Charlie Widmar promoted to Assistant Hockey Director

Director of Mite Development Charlie Widmar has been promoted to Assistant Hockey Director of the Winnetka Hockey Club, and will assume responsibilities effective immediately. Reporting to the Hockey Director, Widmar will assist with the management of all club operations.

"Charlie has a great hockey mind and as a coach is always pushing our young players to be creative, work hard, and be good teammates," said WHC President Andy McNerney.  "In addition, nobody has been more valuable behind the scenes than Charlie. He has picked up roles and responsibilities along the way that were not expected of him and which were critical to keeping our program running smoothly."  

Widmar also spent the previous three seasons coaching with the Loyola Academy High School program. Prior to his coaching career, Charlie played his youth hockey split between Eagan, MN and Northbrook, IL. Following his junior hockey years, Charlie went on to play college hockey at St. Olaf College (NCAA Division 3).

Widmar will also coach two teams and will continue to play a leadership role at the Mite level and with the Club's skills programs.This is Widmar's 6th year coaching and his fourth with Winnetka.
