Tryouts
Pre-Tryout Clinics:
Skates will be offered in the days preceding tryouts. They will
be used to warmup and condition players, not assess them.
Daily Tryout Structure per Level
Two (2) 60 min split sessions
- Warmup & Drills
- Structured Full Ice 5v5
- Squirts/PeeWees - Day 1 will be a birth year only skate where half will be skills and half will be scrimmage. Day 2 and 3 will be scrimmages based on skill.
- Mites - Day 1 and 2 will be birth year only - small area games and scrimmages
- The remaining tryout days will be divided up by ability into Green/Gold or specific Central States Team Callbacks.
- Players may switch between groups throughout tryouts at the coaches' discretion. This provides an opportunity to best evaluate bubble players.
- Squirts will require 2 days of birth year tryouts before breaking into gold/green groups
Team selection
Guiding Principles for Team Selection
Teams will be selected by our Hockey Director, Jimmy Warrick and Assistant Hockey Director, Charlie Widmar with direct input from level coaches.
Selections will be based primarily on tryout performance, but previous year performance and coach input will be considered.
Goaltending instructors will attend select tryouts and their input will inform team selection
